With the current Italian Grand Prix scheduled to end after 2025, efforts are underway to secure the future of this iconic event. Liberty Media, the Formula 1 rights holder, is advocating for significant improvements at the revered Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that the Italian automobile club (Aci) has initiated a tender process for a substantial EUR 21 million redevelopment project.
The proposed plans encompass essential upgrades such as the construction of four new underpasses, road enhancements, full resurfacing of the circuit, improved lighting, the installation of new kerbs, and upgraded drainage systems.
Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the president of Aci, emphasizes the need for financial assistance to cover the costs associated with these vital improvements.
“There is renewal until 2023 if the institutions help us,” he said.
“F1 wants guarantees on the works to make the underpasses safe and to renovate the asphalt and we also aim to modernise the grandstands.”
