Forbes Release: Formula 1 Owners recognized as one of the most valuable sports empires in 2024

Liberty Media, the owners of Formula 1, possess one of the world’s most valuable sports empires, valued at over $15 billion.

In 2024, Forbes reports that Liberty Media, the owners of Formula 1, boasts one of the most valuable sports empires, valued at $18.22 billion.

The mass media company controls various ventures, including F1, Overtime Sports, F1 Arcade, Drone Racing League, Kroenke Arena, and Meyer Shank Racing. It surpasses other notable entities like Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (owners of Arsenal FC and LA Rams) and Fenway Sports Group (owners of Liverpool Football Club) to claim the top spot.

Forbes notes a year-on-year decrease in Liberty Media’s value, attributed to assets spun off in the past 12 months. In 2023, Liberty Media was valued at $20.8 billion, holding the top spot as the most valuable sports empire for that year.

“The aggregate value of Liberty’s ownership stakes in its sports assets fell 12%, to $18.2 billion but it still maintains the top spot on our list. Liberty declined in value this year because it spun off the Atlanta Braves (current enterprise value: $2.6 billion) last July.”
