Vasseur Refuses to Discuss Hamilton as Sainz Celebrates Podium

At the Japanese Grand Prix, Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari’s team leader, made it clear he was not interested in discussing Lewis Hamilton during a press encounter.

The narrative surrounding Hamilton’s upcoming transition from Mercedes to Ferrari in 2025 has dominated headlines, marking it as a significant shift in Formula 1 dynamics.

This move has been a focal point of discussion since the anticipation for the current racing season began, heralded as one of the sport’s most monumental shifts in driver alignment.

In the aftermath of the Suzuka race, Hamilton expressed frustration when questioned about his eagerness to join Ferrari next year, given their superior speed, leading him to exit the post-race media session.

Following this incident, Vasseur also expressed his displeasure in response to a query about Hamilton, who is set to be Ferrari’s new addition next season.

Ferrari celebrated a podium finish at the Japanese event, thanks to Carlos Sainz, securing their fifth podium position of the season.

Sainz has been consistently performing well, achieving podium finishes in every race he has participated in this year, marking a successful tenure with the team as he prepares for Hamilton’s arrival.

During this period of success for Sainz, a journalist introduced a hypothetical scenario to Vasseur, suggesting an “alternative reality where you hadn’t already signed Lewis Hamilton for 2025.” Vasseur immediately interrupted, dismissing the question outright.

“We have the same question each weekend,” Vasseur stated. “Do a copy-paste of my reply of last week, next one.”
