Carlos Sainz remains in pursuit of a Formula 1 seat for the 2025 season following his departure from Ferrari, where he was replaced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Emphasizing his optimism, Sainz has affirmed that attractive opportunities for the upcoming season still lie within his reach.
His assertion comes amidst Aston Martin’s confirmation of Fernando Alonso’s contract extension for a minimum of two additional years.
Previously, speculation suggested Sainz as a potential successor to his fellow Spaniard Alonso should Alonso decide to retire from competitive racing.
However, with the likelihood of Lance Stroll retaining his position alongside Alonso, Sainz’s prospects at the Silverstone-based team appear dim.
Nevertheless, Sainz remains connected to other possibilities, including a potential seat at Mercedes and a position at Stake, especially considering its impending shift to Audi in 2026.
“For sure all my best options are still open, which I think is a positive thing and something that obviously requires a bit of time given the situation of the market,” Sainz stated.
“It’s going to take some time for everyone to make their own mind [up] and their own decisions. But the good options are still open.”
Despite minimal developments regarding his future since the last round in Japan, Sainz has expressed his eagerness to finalize his plans at the earliest opportunity.
“There has been barely any progress over the last couple of weeks so there’s nothing really to update you on,” he stated. Obviously the sooner that everything develops the better, because at the same time, it’s not like it’s affecting my performance at all this year.
“But the earlier you take it out of your head and know the situation, the better. It requires time and it requires some decision-making. So now it’s, as I said, last week, it’s time to let that happen and see how things progress.”
