Marko Applauds Tsunoda’s Melbourne Qualifying

Yuki Tsunoda emerged as the lone Red Bull driver to secure a spot in the top 10 during the qualifying session for the Australian Grand Prix.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko commended Yuki Tsunoda for his impressive performance in qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix. Tsunoda’s exceptional display over a single lap secured him a place in the top 10 starting grid for the second consecutive race.

In the final qualifying session (Q3), the Red Bull driver clocked the eighth fastest time, positioning himself alongside George Russell from Mercedes on the fourth row for the upcoming race.

Meanwhile, Tsunoda’s teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, faced challenges during the qualifying session at his home event. The 34-year-old Australian driver encountered difficulties and was eliminated at the conclusion of Q1.

His fastest lap was invalidated due to a breach of track limits, adding to the setbacks he experienced during the session.

“He got into the top 10 again, that was an incredible performance, he was always there, without mistakes,” Marko said.

“I hope that we’ll get into the points now because the speed is there. That was already the case in the first two races.

“That would be great, because the first five teams are so strong that you manage to get in there, that’s an incredible achievement.”

Max Verstappen clinched his third pole position of the season, outpacing Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz to claim the coveted top spot on the grid.

Regarding Verstappen’s performance, Marko commented: “At the beginning of qualifying there was still a little too much understeer, but it was not a big problem.

“Slowly but surely we pushed the limit and Max drove another great lap.

“He managed the tyres in such a way that everything was right in the last run. We didn’t expect that, but we are happy!”
