Former F1 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya Takes Aim at Lewis Hamilton Following Complaints Amidst Red Bull’s Dominance.
As the current Formula 1 season unfolds, the Milton Keynes-based Red Bull Racing team has asserted its dominance, sweeping all 12 race victories and leaving competitors in awe. Notably, they’ve also clinched victory in the trio of Sprint events, solidifying their supremacy on the track.
This remarkable performance has translated into a staggering 125-point lead for Max Verstappen, who has surged ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez in the intense Drivers’ standings battle.
Moreover, Red Bull Racing has amassed a commanding 256-point lead over the Mercedes team, marking a significant shift in the F1 landscape.
In the midst of this spectacle, Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time World Champion, has voiced concerns about the impact of such dominance on the sport. Hamilton’s pedigree is undeniable, having secured an impressive eight consecutive Constructors’ titles with Mercedes from 2014 to 2021.
However, even during some of his title-winning seasons, the competition was often limited to a two-horse race between Hamilton and his teammates Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas.
Former F1 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya, not one to mince words, has entered the fray, lambasting Hamilton for his complaints. Montoya emphasizes that it’s easy to critique from the sidelines when victories are elusive, pointing out that Hamilton himself had downplayed any advantages held by Mercedes during his own dominant years.
After the seven-time World Champion suggested Mercedes had never been as dominant as Red Bull currently stands, Montoya told Colombian outlet Semana: “It’s very cool to complain when you are not winning.
“But when he was winning, he said that the car had no advantage but the advantage Mercedes had was just as big.
“I don’t want to say that Hamilton is not good, he is a very good driver but the reality of this sport is that you have to be in the best car.”
