Max Verstappen’s dominant streak continues with six consecutive wins, spanning from the Miami to British Grands Prix.
While Red Bull remains undefeated this season, the margin of their victories is narrowing as rival teams engage in an intense development battle.
McLaren’s Team Principal, Zak Brown, expressed optimism about their recent resurgence and shared his confidence in McLaren’s ability to end Verstappen’s dominance.
Brown shared his thoughts during an interview at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, hinting at an exciting battle on the horizon:
“The racing has been unbelievably close other than Max and even Sergio is in the mix.
“I think it’s great time for F1 that in one weekend you have one team that’s second quickest and the following weekend they’re struggling to get out of Q1.
“That’s the competition that we’re looking for in F1, so someone will eventually catch Max. Hopefully it’ll be us, chances are it’ll be a handful of people.”
During the 2022 season, Max Verstappen achieved an impressive win streak of four consecutive races. In contrast, Red Bull’s record for the highest win streak stands at nine races in a row, accomplished by Sebastian Vettel back in 2013.
Zak Brown, McLaren’s Team Principal, commended Verstappen for his outstanding performances on the track this season, acknowledging his ability to outshine the competition. Verstappen’s consistent excellence has set him apart from the rest of the field.
“He’s doing an unbelievable, unbelievable job and it is great to see World Champions at the top of their game so you got to admire what he’s doing,” he said.
“But I think once you look past Max, the field is unbelievably condensed. I think it’s just going to get more exciting as as we move forward.”
