Verstappen Responds to Wolff’s Flattering Comments

Toto Wolff is on the lookout for a new talent to join Mercedes in 2025, with speculation surrounding Max Verstappen as the potential successor to Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen has acknowledged the recent compliments from Mercedes’ Toto Wolff amid the search for a new addition to the team.

Verstappen has had a strong start to the 2024 season, securing his third victory in four races, and his dominance is evident with 22 wins in his last 26 races since 2023 began. His success includes matching Michael Schumacher’s record of three consecutive wins at Suzuka.

The future of Verstappen at his current team is uncertain due to a power dispute at Red Bull, which has been exacerbated by controversies away from the track.

With Wolff in need of a new driver to take over from Hamilton, who is moving to Ferrari, Wolff has not shied away from expressing his admiration for Verstappen.

Verstappen, who is seen as a strong contender to fill Hamilton’s shoes in 2025, noted Wolff’s positive remarks about him. “Lately, Toto has been really nice, saying a lot of nice things about me,” Verstappen commented to journalists.

“It’s still a very long season. I don’t want to think about the rest of the season too much. I really want to approach it race by race.

“I know there will be tracks coming up that might not be so favorable for us, but then, of course, when we do get to tracks where we know that we can be quick, we have to really take advantage of it and score the maximum amount of points as a team, and that’s what we’ll continue to try and do.

“I think we know that we get to tracks where maybe it’s a bit more difficult we have to try and maximize that as well, where maybe other teams can win as well.”
