Max Verstappen kicked off his pre-season testing in Bahrain with an impressive performance in the new Red Bull RB20, securing the fastest time of the day.
Verstappen expressed his comfort and confidence with the RB20 right from its season debut, emphasizing his readiness for the upcoming season.
During the initial day of testing, the reigning World Champion completed a significant total of 143 laps in both morning and afternoon sessions, showcasing both speed and reliability.
His quickest lap was notably more than a second faster than any of his rivals. Coming off a spectacular season where he clinched 19 race wins and his third Formula 1 championship, Verstappen is poised to maintain his dominance in the sport.
“It’s nice to be back,”Verstappen said “I also think we had a really great day.
“We were able to do a lot of laps, and with the car we were able to try out quite a lot of things, so very happy overall.”
“It always surprises you a little bit, the first few laps you jump in, how quick it is compared to anything else. But yeah, had good fun out there”
