After the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, Lando Norris had a swift and rather sharp retort for a fan who taunted him.
Despite claiming his 14th career podium with a third-place finish behind the two Ferraris, the McLaren driver still awaits his maiden Formula One race victory, a fact a fan couldn’t resist reminding him of.
‘When are you gonna win a race Lando?’ shouted the man amidst the crowd as Norris made his way through. In response, the Brit raised his middle finger in the direction of the jesting fan, who seemed to find the gesture highly entertaining.
Sunday saw Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz put an end to Red Bull’s Formula One winning streak, capitalizing on Max Verstappen’s early exit to seize victory at the Australian Grand Prix.
This triumph followed closely on the heels of Sainz’s forced absence from the preceding race in Saudi Arabia, where he underwent an emergency appendectomy.
Starting from the front row alongside Verstappen, Sainz managed to maintain his position into turn one. However, he seized the lead on lap two at turn nine, ultimately taking control as Verstappen succumbed to a fiery mechanical failure just two laps later.
Verstappen, who had triumphed in the season’s first two Formula One races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, had been riding a nine-race winning streak prior to his misfortune.
Sainz’s victory marked Ferrari’s first 1-2 finish since the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix, with teammate Charles Leclerc trailing behind. Notably, Norris clinched third place, securing his maiden podium finish at Albert Park.
