F1 Points System Overview

The F1 standings for the 2024 season are determined by a points system that acknowledges the accomplishments of drivers and constructors throughout the year's competitions, including Grand Prix events and sprint races.

Grand Prix Points Allocation

For the main Grand Prix events, points are allocated as follows: 1st place receives 25 points, 2nd place gets 18 points, 3rd place earns 15 points, down to 1 point for the 10th place finisher. An extra point is awarded for the fastest lap provided the driver finishes in the top 10

Sprint Points Allocation

The 2024 season also features six sprint races, offering an additional opportunity to earn points. The distribution for sprints is more compact, with 1st place earning 8 points down to 1 point for 8th place. These sprints make a total of 48 extra points available across the season for Sprint winners.

Both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships use these points to determine their respective champions. Constructors accumulate points based on the sum of their two drivers' points in each race, including the points from sprint races and fastest laps, provided the conditions are met

Notes

• Full points are awarded for races completed over 75% of the scheduled distance.
• Points for shortened races depend on the completed percentage of the race.
• The fastest lap point is awarded only if the driver finishes in the top 10.
