Christian Horner is attending Formula 1 preseason trials in Bahrain on Wednesday, amidst an ongoing inquiry by Red Bull, his team’s parent entity, into allegations made by a female coworker concerning his behavior. Horner has publicly refuted these claims.
He asserted firmly during last week’s unveiling of the RB20, Red Bull’s new Formula 1 car, his confidence in retaining his position for the inaugural race in Bahrain scheduled for February 29.
However, subsequent reports indicated that Red Bull is keen on accelerating the investigation process concerning Horner, with a possibility of concluding within the week.
Formula 1 has issued its initial statement on the matter, calling for a swift resolution.
“We hope the matter will be clarified at the earliest opportunity, after a fair and thorough process,” F1 stated.
However, by Wednesday morning, there had been no announcement regarding a decision.
Helmut Marko of Red Bull defended the pace at which the investigation was being conducted: “As you know, this is an internal investigation.
“[But] I think Red Bull has reacted very well in this matter. The long duration of this investigation is not their fault. They are endeavoring to [have] a fair investigation and then react accordingly.”
“The sooner a result is available, the better because of course, rumors and other stories are bound to sprout due to the long duration.”
Horner made his appearance in the Formula 1 paddock with engineer Adrian Newey on Wednesday.
This day marks an important moment for the debut of the RB20 on the circuit.
Last season saw Red Bull with the leading car in Formula 1, yet during the unveiling of their 2024 model, there were unanswered questions regarding specific aspects of the RB20’s design.
The initial circuits of the RB20 are expected to clarify these uncertainties under Horner’s careful supervision.
