Martin Brundle has expressed his enthusiasm about Lewis Hamilton’s anticipated move to Ferrari for the 2025 season, describing himself as “so very excited” to witness the celebrated British driver compete for the storied Italian team.
Despite Hamilton’s recent two-year extension with Mercedes in 2023, he’s expected to make a captivating transition from Brackley to Maranello, marking a significant late-career shift.
Though discussions between Hamilton and Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, were rumoured, they didn’t lead to a contract, and Hamilton re-signed with Mercedes for two more years.
Despite this, recent reports and multiple sources suggest that Hamilton’s continuation with Mercedes for the full duration of his contract is becoming increasingly doubtful, with a move to Ferrari for the 2025 season appearing almost certain.
Brundle on X posted: “I’m so looking forward to this. We’ve asked him for years about it and he seemed nailed on at Merc for life, and always dismissive of moving. Hamilton and Leclerc in scarlet, that’s a story.”
Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok has shown great eagerness about the potential of Hamilton joining forces with Leclerc at Ferrari, expressing his excitement in a social media post.
“This is unreal!!!” said Chandhok.
“Biggest driver move shock since….. Lewis left McLaren for Mercedes! Thought that Lewis would end his career at Merc but a chance to have a blast in the red car may have lured him in. Fascinating stuff…”
Icing on the cake to a fantastic career. Who can blame him
