Biography
Pierre Gasly, a French racing driver born in Rouen, France, made his F1 debut in 2017 for Toro Rosso at the Malaysian Grand Prix. His F1 journey is marked by a series of impressive performances, including a memorable win at the Italian Grand Prix in 2020 for AlphaTauri. Gasly has shown resilience and skill throughout his career, from his early days at Toro Rosso to his stint at Red Bull and then his return to AlphaTauri.
Before his entry into Formula 1, Gasly had a successful stint in the GP2 Series (now known as Formula 2), where he won the championship in 2016. This victory was a significant milestone, showcasing his potential as a future star in Formula 1. His performance in the junior series caught the attention of the Red Bull junior driver program, which paved the way for his entry into Formula 1.
In 2018, Gasly continued with Toro Rosso and delivered some remarkable performances, including a sensational fourth place at the Bahrain Grand Prix, which was a standout result that year. His potential was recognized by Red Bull Racing, leading to his promotion to the team in 2019 as a replacement for Daniel Ricciardo. However, his tenure at Red Bull was challenging, and he faced difficulties in matching the pace of his teammate, Max Verstappen. Midway through the 2019 season, Gasly was moved back to Toro Rosso, with Alexander Albon taking his place at Red Bull.
Despite this setback, Gasly's career took a positive turn after his return to Toro Rosso (later rebranded as AlphaTauri). He demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill, culminating in a spectacular maiden win at the Italian Grand Prix in 2020. This victory was a historic moment, as it was the first win for the Faenza-based team since Sebastian Vettel's victory in 2008. Gasly's win was celebrated as a testament to his talent and determination.
In 2023, Gasly made a significant move in his career by joining the Alpine F1 Team. This transition marked a new chapter for him, racing for a team with French heritage. At Alpine, he joined forces with fellow Frenchman Esteban Ocon, forming an all-French driver lineup. This move was seen as an opportunity for Gasly to continue his growth and success in Formula 1, potentially opening doors for further achievements in the sport.
