Ahead of the upcoming Imola Grand Prix, Ferrari is shaking things up with a fresh organizational adjustment, set to alter the dynamics in Charles Leclerc’s racing experience.
Since his arrival at Ferrari from Sauber in 2019, Charles Leclerc has been closely partnered with his outgoing race engineer, Xavi Marcos.
However, a significant change is on the horizon as Ferrari unveils a restructuring plan. This new arrangement will introduce Leclerc to a different race engineer starting from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Stepping into the role previously occupied by Marcos is Bryan Bozzi, a seasoned professional with a decade-long tenure at Ferrari.
Bozzi’s expertise, honed over years of service, notably as Leclerc’s performance engineer, positions him well to take on the pivotal role of guiding the Monegasque driver during his on-track endeavors throughout the weekend.
For avid Formula 1 enthusiasts, Marcos’ voice is likely a familiar one, often reverberating through television broadcasts with messages directed to Leclerc. His trademark quip, “We are checking,” has become recognizable to fans worldwide.
Marcos has played an instrumental role in Leclerc’s achievements at Ferrari thus far, contributing to an impressive tally of five race victories, 23 pole positions, and 33 podium finishes.
Leclerc’s performance in the current season has already seen him secure three podium finishes in the first six races, with a standout result at the Australian Grand Prix, where he clinched second place behind his teammate Carlos Sainz.
Earlier this year, Leclerc reaffirmed his commitment to Ferrari by signing a multi-year agreement with the team.
The Italian outfit further solidified their future plans by announcing Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at the team for the 2025 season, indicating a continued focus on securing success in the competitive world of Formula 1.
