Marko Staying Put at Red Bull After Talks With CEO

Helmut Marko has affirmed his commitment to the Red Bull F1 team after engaging in constructive discussions with CEO Oliver Mintzlaff.

The 80-year-old Austrian’s position was questioned recently when reports surfaced suggesting he might face suspension by Red Bull amidst investigations into media connections linked to the ongoing controversy surrounding team principal Christian Horner.

However, following discussions with Red Bull CEO Mintzlaff prior to Saturday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Marko stated that he intends to continue serving in his capacity as a motorsport advisor.

“It was a very good conversation,” Marko stated. “Of course, calm must return to the team. That has priority.

“We agreed on all points. I will continue here. My contract still has three years to run. But calm must return.”

On Friday night, Marko openly acknowledged the potential for disciplinary measures and hinted at the possibility of his absence from the upcoming race in Australia.

As one of the most prominent figures within Red Bull, Marko garnered significant backing from Max Verstappen following the qualifying session.

The three-time world champion effectively conveyed to Red Bull the gravity of the situation by suggesting that he might consider departing from the team if Marko’s involvement was not maintained.

In response to inquiries regarding Verstappen’s endorsement, Marko commented: “It was very impressive. I am very grateful to him for that. But he is one of the few who has strength of character and shows loyalty.”

In an interview with the Daily Mail at the Jeddah paddock, Mintzlaff seemed to offer public support to Horner.

“We are focusing on the racing,” he stated. “We are happy with our management.”
